Pros: Great central location. Nice, business-class hotel with good facilities and service. Ask for room facing courtyard, which is quieter than street side. Kayak price of $170/nt incl (very good) breakfast was great deal for this property.
Cons: Lounge didn’t have food available all the time Lounge should open at 5 am We were with my handicap father and the hotel lobby is handicap accessible but it would be a real problem if he had to leave quickly.
The new 122-room upscale lifestyle Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht hotel is superb located in the historic center of Amsterdam, on the site of the former Public Library on Amsterdam’s Prinsengracht. It is the first Hyatt hotel in the Netherlands. The hotel is located 14.5 km from Amsterdam Schiphol International Airport and 1.9 km from the Central Train station, in the UNESCO protected canal district and within close walking distance to culture, shopping, dining and nightlife
Pros: The front desk staff was excellent. The hotel was a pleasant surprise. I was thrilled to stay in a room that was large, clean and very comfortable. Loved the robe, slippers and balcony with view of Amsterdam Centraal! The location was perfect. Hotel is historic so parts of it are older but for the location and price I paid I would absolutely stay here again. Also I ordered a pizza from room service and was amazed. It may have been the best pizza I have ever had!
Jump on your city bike or hop on a canal boat and admire Amsterdam, the Venice of the North! The beautiful city houses, romantic bridges, iconic canals and street cafés create its unique atmosphere and give you an ultimate taste of its fascinating past.
From the charming canal belt (grachtengordel) to the lively Red Light District, and from buzzy Rembrandtplein to the more peaceful suburbs of the Oud Zuid – Amsterdam has a district and a pace to suit every traveller.
Originally a working-class neighbourhood, an influx of artists has given Jordaan a bohemian feel, with its narrow streets, charming hofjes (inner courtyards) and independent boutiques and art galleries. On Monday mornings a flea market stretches from Noordermarkt to Westerstraat in the heart of the Jordaan district. View hotels.
Amsterdam’s Centraal train station leads directly to the city’s medieval centre, known as De Wallen. Home to the infamous Red Light District as well as Dam Square, this area features a variety of hotel options ranging from hostels and basic hotels to 5-star luxury accommodation.
De Pijp, Amsterdam’s “Latin Quarter,” is a trendy residential area with an abundance of cafés, bistros, shops and restaurants. This bustling neighborhood lies between Museumplein and the River Amstel and hosts the city’s oldest street market, the Albert Cuypmarkt. Picturesque Sarphatipark is a pretty oasis in de Oude Pijp – a haven of calm in the middle of this lively neighborhood. View hotels.
Business travellers may prefer to stay in Amsterdam’s Zuidas district. Known as the city’s “Financial Mile,” the region is located between the city centre and Schiphol Airport and features a range of business hotels near the RAI Convention Centre.
This bohemian neighbourhood is renowned for its art galleries, folk music and trendy shops. The Jordaan is a quiet and leafy neighbourhood: it’s more craft beer and mixologist bars than of buzzing coffee shops and fun pubs.
This little hotel is situated in an authentic monumental Canal House. In this building on the Prinsengracht with a view over one of the most beautiful canals you are in the heart of Amsterdam, only a 5-minute walk from Rembrandt Square. The ITC Hotel has basic rooms with free Wifi, a few have a great view over the canals.
We really enjoyed our time in Amsterdam. The location of the apartment was ideal, with easy walking distance to everywhere we wanted to go. We liked that the flat was open plan, with lots of windows, and even a view of the canal. The flat was spotlessly clean, and had everything we needed. So, five stars from us! Best wishes, Robyn & Steve Webber
Pros: Stayed here for business and it was great. All the required services and internet were available. As for comfort, the bed was perfect. My only discomfort was that it can get a bit too warm at night despite the heater being off. Also, I have to say that the hotel is beautiful and in a very nice location. It is very easy to find your bearings to find your way back and feel safe even late at night. Would definitely stay here again.
Next to the gorgeous Rembrandtpark and close to a tram stop that takes you to Dam Square and Leidse Square, stands the 3-star Bastion Hotel Amsterdam/ Centrum – Zuidwest. Enjoy free wi-fi throughout the comfortable and friendly hotel. To make your stay as pleasant as possible, rooms are equipped with cable TV, heating and a telephone. Head to The Grill for a bite to eat, or the lobby bar for a relaxing drink after a day exploring.
The English-style bed and breakfast set-up was not commonly found option of accommodation in Amsterdam. But with the scarcity of hotel rooms these days, this accommodation service is becoming more popular. Today a few private landlords and some agencies specialize in renting rooms as a bed and breakfast. City is full of cafes and breakfast bars so most of the so-called b&b’s actually do not serve breakfasts. These Amsterdam accommodations are referred to as holiday apartments.
Hostels are cheap Amsterdam accommodation option where a number of people share one room or a dorm. Cheap hostels are a good alternative for those on a budget, but offer less privacy. They are mostly visited by students and backpackers, thus are popular places to meet fellow travellers. Most of the youth hostels are situated in the city centre and the prices vary from 17 to 30 euros per person. There are also smoking allowed hostels equipped with smoking room.
The DeLaMar Theater is also host to a range of international theatre, musical, and dance performances. The Dutch National Opera & Ballet has been the main opera house in Amsterdam since 1986 and is home to the Dutch National Opera and Dutch National Ballet. Across from the Museum Square is the Concertgebouw, home to the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and considered to have some of the best acoustics in the world.
“I am so glad that i chose this hotel. the location is so good, it’s just 3 minutes walk from amsterdam amstel metro station, from there you can easily go the city centre. the room was spacious, the staff was so nice. ”
Close to Museumplein and the Vondel Park, this lively square offers plenty of nightlife, with everything from Irish bars to the comedy venue, Boom Chicago. There are also some great music venues in the vicinity, including the Melkweg, Paradiso and de Balie. View hotels.
The Rijksmuseum houses the largest collection of classical Dutch art, with nearly one million objects from around the country. Some of the most famous pieces on display are the works of Rembrandt, including his masterpiece, De Nachtwacht (The Night Watch).
Even though the city is small, there are so many things to see. Rijksmuseum is amazing. And the food courts nearby carry delicious treats. Try the waffles with soft ice cream, or the French fries. Buy tulip bulbs and different cheeses. Get a daily pass from the machines on the bus stops and travel freely for an entire day for about €8. Watch out for bicycle paths as there are plenty of bicycles and it does take some getting used to.

Cons: The room was incredibly stuffy as there was no A/C. We couldn’t open the windows at night because the building construction next door started promptly at 7 am and the noise was unbearable with the windows open. Would never had booked here if I knew I would get about 2 hrs of sleep per night. The price was decent but now I know why!
The Hoxton, Amsterdam is made up of a series of five canal houses overlooking both the Herengracht and Singel canals. The property has a fascinating history, dating from the early 17th Century, formally a residential town house that was home to the Mayor of Amsterdam. The hotel will consist of 111 rooms and will also house it’s very own Apartment, our meeting and event space like no other, restaurant and bar.
At the doorstep of the Centraal train station, Amsterdam’s busy city center, the Binnenstad features a range of hotels for all budgets. Everything from simple hostels to 5-star luxury hotels are on offer.
We didn’t get a chance to explore really as this was an unexpected stop over after a connecting flight to another country was missed. An early flight the following morning prevented any chance to look around.
“Besides a cozy room and comfortable mattress, the customer service exceeded all. The receptionists were very helpful and attended to your every need/question. Good location and very easy to get around.”

This lively hotel is right in the middle of the Red Light District. The rooms (and apartments) are decorated with playful touches like graffiti, vibrant wallpaper and neon lights. The hotel’s bar regularly hosts DJ and live music nights.
Dutch pancakes are a popular meal that every visitor should try, we recommend Pannenkoekenhuis Upstairs (so long as you don’t mind the steep staircase up to the restaurant) which serve generous sized helpings of this favourite, the bacon and syrup pancake being particularly delicious.
Amsterdam has a quirky range of public transport, including traditional tram services that work through the city, numerous buses, and an extensive and efficient train service that runs to outer parts of the city and nearby towns. Thanks to the canals, there are also a range of water-based transport options, but the best way to get around is by bike – a firm favourite amongst the locals.
This five star bed and breakfast has contemporary rooms with exposed beam ceilings. It’s adults only, so you can enjoy a very grown up stay. Although it’s a B&B, breakfast isn’t served on-site: instead you get a voucher for the celebrated Vlaamsch Broodhuys bakers just along the road.
The Royal Theatre Carré was originally designed as a circus theatre in 1887 and now features acclaimed shows like The War Horse and performers such as Emmylou Harris, Elvis Costello, and Marianne Faithfull.
Cons: Room was right next to the elevator. Recently remodeled which was evident from the paint splatters on the sill and carpet. Microwave was broken and toilet didn’t want to flush. Not and ideal location near holland activities. Too much money for what you actually get.
Amsterdam is a wonderful open minded city. Most people are friendly and unlike Germany not only the people is more beautiful but their attitude as well. This is my second time to Amsterdam ans it will not be my last one.
With a stay at Tulip Inn Amsterdam Riverside in Amsterdam (Zuidoost), you’ll be within a 15-minute drive of Heineken Music Hall and Amsterdam ArenA. This eco-friendly hotel is 7.7 mi (12.4 km) from Nes and 6.6 mi (10.6 km) from Hortus Botanicus.
We would love to give the following testimonial: We visited this home as a family of 4 (2 adults, a 12-year old and a 10-year old), and found it absolutely amazing for our needs. It was so central that we could either walk to everything we needed or grab a tram. Perfect for Anne Franks’ House, the Dam, Central Station and the Canal region. Fantastic restaurants nearby, with great food for all tastes! Although there was a perfect kitchen, supplied with everything that was needed, we found the restaurants just too tempting! The accommodation was perfect for a family. Sam, who met us, was so accommodating and helpful- we arrived early and he was still able to let us in. I have stayed in a lot of rented properties (in the UK, NY, throughout France and Spain) and this was one of the absolute best! Can’t wait to come back again. Thanks, Alison
Known as Grachtengordel in Dutch. This neighbourhood is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and sits just outside the old city centre. The most popular areas to stay here are Rembrandtsplein and Leidseplein, two of Amsterdam’s most popular nightlife areas.
TV/cable did not work. We called to have it fixed, was assured someone would come to look at it. No one did; kitchen equipment was inadequate, for example only 2 teaspoons; narrow bedrooms require crawling in and out of bed from the foot of the bed. One bathroom overhead light didn’t work. Kick plate under kitchen counter attached with tape and kept falling down.
INK Hotel Amsterdam owes its name to the rich history of the building in which, as former home of the Dutch newspaper ‘De Tijd’, stories were conceived, written and brought to life in ink. INK Hotel is the place “where stories are yet to be written”. INK Hotel Amsterdam is a luxury design hotel, where the traditional rules of hospitality are freely translated to the modern day, rewriting the definition of ‘luxury’. Award winning, design located in the heart of Amsterdam.
Cons: This hotel cost $170 on hotels.com and looked and smelled like a $40 hotel. There was a bunch of construction debris in the parking lot, and the view was a weedy lot and some type of industrial storage area. The carpet was dirty, there were dirty hand prints on the wall of our room, the large wall mirror was broken and covered with a piece of tape, and the mini fridge in our room was unplugged with no outlet in reach of the cord. I don’t expect luxury from a Microtel, but the ones I’ve stayed in before we’re at least clean and nice looking. This one was downright dingy. If we were doing it over, we’d spend more or less and stay somewhere else.
